My hobbies are Football, Football and more Football! Watching, playing or refereeing, I don't really mind.

Cambridge United are my main team, I go to practically all the home games, and as many away games as Sandra will allow me! I've been going to watch them ever since the U's got into the league in 1970. There have been good years, and less than good years! Relegation from the football league was a real bad time, with administration meaning most of the players had to go, so the following season was also bad. Top game has to be the 1-0 win over Chesterfield at Wembley in the first play-off game to be staged there. We are unbeaten at the Old Wembley, but unfortunately we did not win at the New Wembley in May 2008 in the Conference Play-off.

The other team I look for the results of are Chelsea. I started supporting them in 1967, just before the FA cup final of that year, because most of the rest of my class at school supported Tottenham. Chelsea lost 1-2. I went to Stamford Bridge whenever I could in my early teenage years, standing in the Shed. Since then the whole of the stadium has been changed as the old terraces have been replaced with new all-seater stands.

Other teams I like to see do well are Brondby in Denmark and PSV Eindhoven in Holland. I had to go to Denmark a lot for work during 1991 to 1993, and managed to see quite a few of the teams out there. This season (2002/3) Brondby were pipped for the championship by FCK Copenhagen. With initials like that I bet you can guess what they are called by Brondby fans! Brondby is the "working mans" club, FCK have a lot of corporate support. Games between the two clubs get the biggest crowds, usually over 30,000 at each stadium, although very few FCK fans go to Villfort Park!

Having stood on terraces of heaving bodies I do think that all seater stadiums lose a bit in the way of atmosphere. I don't know why a small part of any ground cannot be terracing for standing. I'm not talking massive areas like the Holt stand at Aston Villa, but if 10% or so of a ground capacity was for standing I don't think there would be problems. It would also be a slightly cheaper option for those fans who do not have a lot of money. While big clubs are able to sell all the seats they can at extortionate rates there is no incentive for them to do anything else. The best ground I've been to recently is the Madejski Stadium at Reading, a new stadium built from scratch. It's easy to get to being close to the M4, lots of parking next to the ground, TV's to watch while getting refreshments, good seating with plenty of leg room. Another similar ground is the KC Stadium at Hull. Worst ground is Layer Road at Colchester, I always seem to get lost in the town, have to park miles away, the terraces are so shallow you can't get a good viewing position, toilets and refereshment facilities are very poor, and we always seem to lose!

League grounds I have been to: Arsenal, Aston Villa, Barnet (when they were in the league), Boston, Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Bury, Charlton, Chelsea, Colchester, Coventry, Crystal Palace, Derby (Baseball ground), Everton, Fulham, Gillingham, Hull (KC Stadium), Ipswich, Kidderminster, Lincoln, Luton, Man United, Millwall, Northampton, Norwich, Notts County, Notts Forest, Orient, Oxford (Manor ground), Peterboring, Portsmouth, QPR, Reading, Rushden,Sheffield Wednesday, Southend, Torquay, Tottenham, Walsall, Watford, West Ham, Wolves, Wrexham, Wycombe. Also Wembley and the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. 44 league teams so far, still quite a few to go before I can join the "92" club. I've have also visited quite a few non-league grounds in the last few seasons: Aldershot, Burton, Canvey, Crawley, Dagenham & Redbridge, Gravesend/Ebbsfleet, Grays, Histon, Northwich Victoria, Salisbury, Stevenage, St. Albans, Woking.

I did play 5-a-side football. I was the person who plays in goal (I never claim to be a goalkeeper!) and could teach younger players a thing or 2. I decided to retire after having a back operation...I knew all that bending down to pick the ball out of the net would harm me!

I played in goal for Moosenet FC, the football team of the Cambridge United internet supporters. We played a few local teams in friendly games at 7-a-side and 11-a-side football. Having played 5-a-side for so many years I had trouble playing games where opposition (and sometimes my own!) players can challenge me for the ball, as well as not being too good when it comes to kicking or catching the ball!

I passed the referees exam a few years ago, mainly to referee in the Cambridge 5-a-side league, and I can often be found at Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre in Cambridge on Thursday evenings during the football season. The biggest problem is players not knowing the rules, and disputing decisions (no change there then!). I referee the occasional kids games, which are usually quite easy games, however there have been times when I've had to have a sharp word with some of the parents on the touchline, once having to step between a dad arguing with the linesman, another time having to reprimand a mother for swearing very loudly at a linesman after I had allowed a goal to her sons side. It's funny how parents get more heated than their sons!

I am Secretary of the Cambridge 5-A-Side League, a position I have held for a number of years. I assume I'm doing an OK job or some-one else would have offered to take over by now! This will be my last year....Honest!

I was Chairman of the Trust at the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre for a few years following being a Trust Board member for a number of years before, now I am back to being one of the Trust Board members. Go to the Kelsey Kerridge Sports Centre website at: www.kelseykerridge.co.uk

I am the Secretary of Cambridge Fans United, more usually known as CFU. CFU aim to raise the profile of Cambridge United, and raise funds for the club and other local causes. I was on the Committee for a few years, and took on more responsibilitiy by writing the meeting minutes, then it was suggested I'd be a good Secretary, and unfortunately I could not think of a reason quick enough not to do it!
I organise teh annual 5-a-side tournament at Christmas, 16 teams, most from the Cambridge area but we have had supporters trusts teams too. Go to the CFU website at:
